01 / Why WooCommerce

An online shop built on WooCommerce, on purpose.

WooCommerce is one of the most widely used ecommerce platforms in the world and runs on WordPress, so your products, customers and order history live on a site you own. No platform taking a percentage of each sale, and no paid app for every small feature.

No cut of your sales

You pay your card provider’s fee and nothing else per order. No platform transaction fees, and no growing pile of monthly app subscriptions.

Run it day to day yourself

Add products, change prices, run a sale and print packing slips without ringing us. We set the shop up so your weekly jobs are quick, then record videos of your own shop.

Room to grow

Subscriptions, wholesale pricing, click and collect, local delivery zones or gift cards. WooCommerce has a proven extension for almost anything, so growing does not mean moving.

“Darren provided us with a totally reinvented website, which was better than we could have ever imagined!”

02 / Scope

What every shop includes, and what costs extra.

Everything in the first list is in every shop quote we write. Payments, postage and VAT are where cheap shop builds cut corners, so check that other quotes include them.

Most shoppers browse and buy on their phone. Product pages, basket and checkout are built and tested on phones first, then tablet and desktop.

Stripe or PayPal set up with Apple Pay and Google Pay, so buying takes a couple of taps. Money goes straight into your account.

Shipping by weight, zone or basket value, free delivery thresholds, local delivery and click and collect, set up the way you actually send things.

Prices shown the way your customers expect, VAT calculated correctly and invoices carrying the right details. If you are not VAT registered, that is handled too.

We add your first set of products with variations such as size or weight, categories and properly cropped images. You add the rest once you have seen how it is done.

Fewer fields, guest checkout and delivery costs shown before the last step. Abandoned baskets are mostly caused by surprises, so we remove them.

Branded order confirmations, dispatch notifications and low-stock alerts, so customers know where their order is and you know when to reorder.

Proper heading order, readable colour contrast, keyboard navigation and labelled form fields, checked against WCAG 2.2 AA. Around one in five people in the UK has a disability, so this is about who can actually buy from you.

Page titles, descriptions and clean URLs for every product and category, plus product structured data so prices and stock can show in Google results.

Locked-down logins, a firewall, malware scanning and off-site backups. A shop holds customer details, so this is not optional.

A proper opt-in and opt-out cookie banner, plus template privacy, delivery and returns policies and shop terms. We are not solicitors, so have them checked if your situation is unusual.

Short screen recordings of your own shop covering products, orders and refunds, plus a month after launch where small changes are free while you settle in.

A photographer shooting your products on clean backgrounds and in use. Good photos sell more than any design decision we could make.

Weekly boxes, monthly deliveries or memberships billed automatically, with customers able to pause or skip from their own account.

Separate prices, minimum order quantities and pay-on-invoice for approved trade customers, hidden from the public shop.

Delivery days by postcode, collection time slots and order cut-offs. Ideal for food, farm shops and bakeries.

Sell gift vouchers, classes or experiences alongside your products, all through the same checkout.

Orders and stock synced with Xero, QuickBooks or your till system, so nothing is typed in twice.

Your products listed in Google Shopping and on Facebook and Instagram, all fed from the same catalogue.

A polite reminder to people who left something in their basket. Often the cheapest sales you will ever make.

Hundreds of products brought in from a spreadsheet, Shopify, Etsy or an old shop, with redirects so existing Google listings keep working.

Customer reviews on product pages with verified buyer badges, so new customers can see what others thought.

Sign-up at checkout and across the shop, opt-in and opt-out handled correctly, and a tool you can write decent-looking emails in without design skills.

Google Shopping, Facebook or Instagram campaigns set up and monitored. We will tell you honestly if your budget is too small to bother.
03 / How a build runs

Five stages, one point of contact,
and a whole team behind it.

Specialists join where they help, a copywriter or an SEO hand for example. You still deal with me throughout, and there is always cover when I am away.

01

Scoping call

Free, about an hour. What you sell, how you send it and how you get paid. You get a fixed, itemised price after this.

02

Pages to react to

We design your home page and a product page first and show you the real thing in a browser. Far easier to judge than a mood board.

03

Build and load products

Built on a private staging site you can visit whenever you like. Payments in test mode, postage and VAT set up, and your first products loaded. Weekly check-ins.

04

Test orders and launch

Real test orders on phones and desktops, every email and refund checked, old links redirected. We handle the switchover so nothing drops out of Google.

05

Handover and after

Logins, walkthrough videos of your own shop and 30 days of tweaks included. Take a care plan if you want it, not because you are stuck.

04 / The personal bit

No account manager,
no ticket queue.

You have my mobile number and my email. When an order email looks wrong on a Friday afternoon, you message the person who built the shop, not a shared inbox.

Plain English, always. If we use a word you do not know, we have explained it badly. Ask, and we will draw it if it helps.
A fixed, itemised price. You see what each part costs before you commit, so you can drop anything you would rather not pay for.
Never a single point of failure. A small group of specialists we have worked with for years is briefed on your site, so there is always cover and you never have to chase a stranger.
“He made this initially quite daunting task stress-free and enjoyable. Nothing was too much trouble and he communicated clearly during every step. A pleasure to work with.”

05 / Straight answers

The questions we get asked most.

Something not covered? Ask on the call. We would rather tell you a website is the wrong spend than sell you one.

Shops are quoted individually, because the number of products, delivery rules and payment options vary so much. Same fixed-fee approach as all our work: you get an itemised price after the scoping call, before you commit to anything.

Longer than a brochure site, mainly because of products and testing. You get a realistic timeline with your quote. What slows shops down most is product photos and descriptions, so we will help you get those ready early.

Shopify suits people who want a rented, hands-off shop. WooCommerce has no platform transaction fees, no paid app for every feature, full control over SEO, and you can take your shop to another developer at any time.

Cards, Apple Pay and Google Pay through Stripe, plus PayPal and pay-later options such as Klarna if you want them. Money goes straight to your account; we never handle it.

Yes. Adding products, updating stock, processing orders and issuing refunds are all done from your dashboard, and you get short videos of your own shop showing how.

Yes, from Shopify, Etsy, Wix, Squarespace or an older WooCommerce site. Products move across, customers and order history where the platform allows, and old links are redirected so your Google listings keep working.

Thirty days of small tweaks are included. Shops need more looking after than brochure sites, so most clients take a monthly plan covering hosting, updates, backups and security checks.

Darren, from the first call onwards, and still two years later when something needs changing. Alongside him is a small group of specialists we have worked with for years, so the work never stalls and there is always cover.

We can. Fast UK hosting sized for a shop, monitored, with backups and updates handled. You are welcome to host elsewhere, and we will set it up wherever you like.
